In the latest check of the daily stats of Covid-19 cases in the US, the grade reached a new level. This study was taken under the direction of John Hopkins University. And the research shows the countdown as of this Thursday night. Indeed, at 87,164 cases, this count holds the highest record in the United States in one day, to date. The previous record for the same was 83,731 cases, which took place 6 days prior.
Updates on the total Covid-19 cases in the US
Currently, the total count of the Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic stands at almost 9 million. The exact figure, according to John Hopkins University data, is 8.94 million altogether. In the past week, 41 states across the United States have reported 10% or more Covid-19 cases. This is much higher in comparison to the previous week. Unfortunately, reports do not show any state seeing a similar 10% or more decline in cases. According to the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration of the US, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, this would only rise further. He predicts a count of 100,000 new cases would occur in the US in the following week.
He argues that the primary reason for this is due to the laid-back attitude of the public. He says that the public is not cautious enough, and their behavior needs to change. Until then, any slowdown in the growth rate of this virus is not possible. Gottlieb was appointed to head the FDA back in 2017 by President Donald Trump. Not only the cases but also the death toll has noticed a huge spike in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have predicted that the death count can reach 256,000 by November 21. According to them, the lowest margin that it can rise is 243,000 deaths throughout the country. This is the best-case scenario as per the ensemble forecast.
To date, the death count is approximately 228,143 in the United States after getting Covid-19. Without proper precautions, this would continue growing as per the university experts. To combat this situation, many states are levying new restrictions on their citizens. For example, in Chicago, indoor drinking and dining are not allowed. In Wisconsin, the governor urges citizens to remain indoor to reduce the hospitalization-rate spike. The nonessential businesses are under curfew in Newark. On the other hand, the restrictions on retail shops and restaurants are higher in Denver than before. Other countries have also levied new restrictions in their own states to stop this surge in Coronavirus cases.
