It’s been an emotional collection of Love Island, but after six months of South African romance, we have the first winners of this winter version.
Four couples made it through to tonight’s (February 23) live closing on ITV2: Paige Turley and Finley Tapp, Jess Gale and Ched Uzor, Demi Jones and Luke M, and finally Siannise Fudge and Luke T.
Presenter Laura Whitmore was available to stoke the expectation in front of an excited crowd, but eventually, it had been verified that Paige and Finley had obtained the most votes and were crowned the winning couple.
While Luke and Demi M were awarded the third spot, Ched and jess exited the final first through fourth place.
From the interviews that were post-vote, the two spouses confessed they never expected to be competing in the final were happy with the result either way.
Once their runners-up position had been declared, Luke and Siannise T sat with Whitmore to reflect on their life-changing travel.
“What an adventure, I can’t even describe how amazing it had been honestly…” said Luke, while his spouse added, “Incredible, and as we said, we triumph every day only having each other.”
In the end, Paige and Finley decided to divide the #50,000 decoration (no surprises there), which will undoubtedly go on their shared Manchester apartment as soon as they’re back on home soil.
